ABOUT US

Toper’s light was lit in a tiny 33 m² workshop in Izmir in 1954, thanks to Nurettin Karakundakoğlu’s brilliant mind and constantly improving technical knowledge.

Mr. Nurettin, who had been working since his youth to build new machines, facilitate production and improve quality, first developed a coffee grinder that attracted great interest.

In those days, with his advanced foresight, he designed and produced Turkey’s first bulgur mill.

With the great support of his wife Zekiye Hanım, Nurettin Bey produced sometimes 300 machines a year in his tiny workshop, and many of the mills he produced are still in operation despite the more than 60 years that have passed.

Toper's family tradition is based on this great solidarity.

In the 70s, members of the second generation of the family were either receiving technical training for Toper’s production process or actively working in production.

In the 80s, the younger generation started doing research at universities and research institutes.

In those years, Toper products attracted great interest from Libyans and the Toper brand was introduced to international markets for the first time.

When Mr. Nurettin’s experience was combined with the research of the younger generation, the new products created entered the Yugoslavian market in the early 90s.

After 1995, Toper products began to be exported to Italy, following the Romanian, US and Canadian markets, thanks to continuously improving technical quality and safety standards.

During these years, Toper reduced the roasting time to 9 minutes with R&D studies and started to cooperate with Tübitak for the first time in 1997. Following the second Tübitak project in 2001, Toper traditionalized its intensive cooperation with universities and research institutions and developed numerous patents.

Today, Toper manufactures the world’s leading coffee processing equipment with the involvement of the third generation of the family, who are trained in mechanical, technical, automation, international marketing and business development.

As of 2015, Toper is now considered one of the 8 key brands in the global coffee roasting industry, according to reports by various international independent research organizations.

The light that Mr. Nurettin lit in 1954 shines in 146 countries today.
