Johann Sebastian Bach’s Coffee Cantata, presented with the music of Air, Gavot I and Gavot II from Orchestral Suite No. 3 and Violin Concerto in E Major, Coffee Love was staged -for the first time in Izmir- on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 at 20.00.
Written by Bach in 1735 and world premiered at Cafe Zimmermann in Leipzig in the same year, the Coffee Cantata satirically depicts coffee addiction, which was perceived as a social problem in the eighteenth century. In the Izmir staging of the work, the music of Air, Gavot I and Gavot II from the Orchestral Suite No. 3 and the Violin Concerto in E Major were added to Bach’s Coffee Cantata to create a show called Coffee Love.
Supporting Sailing Sports

The known coffee history and trade has been continuously developing since the 1300s. Coffee is the world’s second largest commodity after oil. Thanks to its properties, coffee has become part of a large social structure.
It has a very important place in personal life, meetings, conversations, gastronomy. It has even had an impact on art and politics, which is why it has been banned from time to time.
The music on this album is based on the known historical information about coffee.
